It’s been taken over by humorless libs. Half the jokes in old comedies would get the writers and producers cancelled in 2024.

It's a combination of a few things:
1. Hollywood doesn't even make a lot of comedies anymore. Allegedly its DVD sales. But for whatever reason, the big budget comedies are done.
2. When they do make comedies they're usually less auteur and almost always have The Rock / John Cena / Kevin Hart. It's all very safe corporate humor.
3. Obviously there's the woke "you can't do that anymore" element to it. The Hangover was probably the last hit movie where people were laughing with men behaving badly and that's 15 years ago.
4. There's a phenomenon in social media where I think it has sort of Democratized humor to a certain extent. It used to be a big deal to be witty / funny, but now all you see is people posting the same shit and emulating each other. And the end result is just that nothing is actually that funny. It's kind of like how some guys used to be really good with girls, but now with online dating they're all using the exact same openers and strategies.
