I actually think he wasn't compromised when he was initially elected in 2016. Russiagate was the "deep state's" effort to do Nixon 2.0 and make him completely ineffective. Then they used endless lawfare once he was out of office assuming he'd submit. He didn't, so they tried to kill him. After that, I assume they went to him and said "we will not miss next time, but work with us and you and your family can get in on the grift" -- he chose that, hence Trumpcoin and his sons getting involved with scam betting market companies.
