When I became a Democrat, it was the more tolerant party. Republicans were run by religious nut jobs and corporate robots. Now, the Democrats are in a lot of ways the less tolerant party.
The least tolerant part is actually the establishment wing of the party that says anyone opposing their anointed leaders is committing heresy. If you try to give constructive criticism of the party to improve it, they drive you from the party while screaming, “He’s not a real Democrat!!”
They hate populists. They have become the corporate robots I couldn’t stand. They hate their base. They insult our intelligence by pretending that the donors are not in charge. They think we should be controlled and learn how to follow orders. And they have no idea how elitist they sound.
Predictably, their unironic reaction to this post will be, “Heretic!!”

Cenk is not going to get his populist reformation. The DNC is going to rejigger their model by adopting only mild changes. The plan is the plan. They can't do any takebacksies of woke insanity. In fact, their ideal position to be in is the exact position Trump has been in for most his political career: a hold your nose candidate.
Libs plan is to find another social issue to become a new wedge issue for voters. Remind everybody that they don't like social conservatism. And then the obvious takeaway that everyone will talk about is candidate, candidate, candidate. Clinton and Obama were smooth.
Biden wasn't, but that was an extraordinary year that will never be repeated. The DNC got way out over their skiis after Biden won by an impossible number of votes and they started getting greedy. They started thinking that wow, it really doesn't matter who the President is. Let them eat cake. We'll just pull a fast one and the oligarchy can chug along.
So they will be back with the same shenanigans. They're not going to reinvent the whole formula. They pushed the populist left aside so many times they can confidently do it again. Virtually everyone who votes for Bernie types can be brought into the fold to vote D in the general. It works every time.
Their ultimate goal is to rule forever and never do anything. They have a good chance of retaking in 28. They're not coming back with New Coke. It will be the same Coke but with one or two extra grams of sugar and a few less milligrams of salt. Same D, different day. They have nowhere to move on the chessboard. But Trump fatigue, star power, wedge issues. They can do it. But left populism, forget about it.
