Today: horror movie marathon, playing some online poker, light cleaning, poasting.
Tomorrow: watching wnba play off games while I do a massive amount of laundry, then going out to dinner at 180 local italian restaurant.
Anyone doing anything fun/noteworthy?

I've been in Vegas, so ca$ino. Played 1/3, 2/3, 3/5 NL and 1/2/5 PLO. Overall, kind of annoying games. Locals, oblivious drinking bros slowing game down, and people watching $PORT$!
Won 60ish% of sessions, but didn't have much fun while doing it.
Pools made up for it a little. |

Am getting back into it again after more than a decade without playing and am starting to take it a bit more seriously re: theory etc. Started playing microstakes online and am hosting a weekly poker game at my house starting this month. Should be 180.
I've never played in a casino and frankly don't know if I could, I think I would get too bored/ADD and not able to deal with the slow pace of play. If you're close to Vegas obviously you have a ton of options. Closest full casino to me is idk 4-5 hours away.

Pace of play is definitely different. I've played a lot of PLO, so I'm a little accustomed to it. It's really when the game plays slower than it's supposed to because of people at the table that I get bothered.

Multi-tabling (2-4) when I play, which probably isn't great to help me increase focus. But at this point I'm just trying to get lots of hands in so I can get some practice. Definitely need to download a HUD this week and start reviewing my hands. Eventually I just want to be profitable in my home games and play tourneys (both online and potentially in casino) once in a while.
I enjoy Omaha but just don't have as much experience with it. Definitely slower pace of play, which I can see would good for prepping you for live games. My brain is just a lot slower with Omaha re: outs, odds & equity, etc since I have only played it a few times.
Do you live in Vegas? Or just travel there? Closest casino to me is in CT, which is like 5 hour drive away. Total pain in the ass. |

I really benefit from playing live though because I think I've got a decent ability to size people up based on stereotypes and other behavioral clues. Plus, when you play PLO, the pool is smaller, so getting in hands with the same degenerates allows you to make better decisions.
Omaha isn't bad once you get a little experience. And you can actually ask the pot, which isn't a thing in NL. It's mainly the change in what hands to play and not playing too many when you come over from NL. Proper approach is actually playing fairly tight believe it or not.
I assume you're talking Foxwoods? That's actually the first place I played ca$ino poker. 4-8 limit, I think.
Vegas was just for fun and to visit friends. I live in Chiraq.

When one was in college, I was visiting her in college to drop off some stuff and helping out with a Halloween party and I met her roommate.
She was wearing stockings, and when I realized that she was, I didn't look at her. At all. My daughter saw that I was uncomfortable but quickly figured out why. She then did everything in her power to make me more uncomfortable. Truly rotten of her.
When I gave her a silent message/communicating that I hated her and I knew what she was doing... blah, blah, blah. At the end, when she hugged me, she whispered in my ear that she was getting even for some of the rotten things I did to embarrass her when she discovered boys.
That genuinely made me a proud dad that she was that evil. She is a rotten kid, and I love her for it. |
