It’s been six weeks. I finally checked with HR, who checked with the court. Turns out, Jerry hasn’t been summoned since 2019. When I confronted him, he just smiled. “The system’s broken, friend,” he said, walking out.
I finished his shift, restocked his aisle, and whispered, “Yes, friend. This is fine.” |
