however, the purpose of language is to convey information. the journo purposefully choose a headline that anyone could tell would be potentially misunderstood because it's more attention grabbing. sure, *technically* he is *competing* for his most important title because he didn't win a superior competition he competed in. so, the journo is correct in grammatically but wrong if you take a 1000ft view imo. |

even if bill clinton said "i did not have sexual intercourse with that woman" it would still be misleading and bordering on a lie when though it's technically true. |
