I've poasted about this before. All these unhealthy Gen Xers are declining in middle age, but it hasn't fully shown up in life expectancy figures because they haven't yet reached their death at the age of 55. They're still unhealthy and going downhill at 48. When their story is finally written, it will be a sad one. Millennials won't be much better off, if at all.

I lucked out and hit my rock bottom in my mid 20's, 190+lbs + 1/2 pack a day smoker...came home from the bar with lungs wheezing from a bunch of American spirits and booze. cut out smoking and sugar and within a few months was in the 170's and feeling way better. now I'm 160-165, can do 8-10 proper form pull ups, still hoop, etc.

in contrast, my 13yr old is ripped from bouldering, touched rim for the first time this week (he's already 5'11), and asked me if I'd buy him whey protein. at the same age I was coming home and eating a massive fucking bowl of fruity pebbles.
