For a while it seemed like Muse might win out. They even got a song into the Twilight movie. But people eventually realized the lead singer is Short and today no one even knows Muse still makes new music. Meanwhile people can't stop asking when Radiohead will finally make a new album even though Thom Yorke has a weird eye. Height really does trump everything.

Thom isn't Tall afaik, but his music is serious and brooding in a way that must be taken seriously. Matthew Bellamy's shredding and midwit songs about black holes and RESISTANCE just come off as jestermaxxing by comparison.

I agree. I've seen that comparison a lot and always found it strange.

It was an extremely common take on Fark.com back in the day. "If you like Radiohead you should check out Muse!"

I love muse but they are very derivative. Like some combination of Radiohead, queen and U2. Some great songs and albums and put on an awesome live show. But they never did anything transcendent.

Yeah. Absolution is a fantastic album but the rest are a few good tracks and a good amount of filler.

It's almost a curse that Matt Bellamy is such a great singer. Probably hindered their song writing a bit.
