In Charleston, the traditional way to commit suicide is to jump off the Cooper River Bridge. A lot of people have done it, and I don't know that anyone survives, it's a pretty far drop and the currents under the bridge are crazy.
Unless you do it in the dead of winter, blue crabs eat a good portion of your flesh before you're found. Then, those same blue crabs get caught in traps and served at restaurants, and if you do it during the spring, there's a good chance you'll get eaten by a soft-shell crab, which may then be consumed whole, without any cleaning, by a person.
