You're missing out on anything not in the US. I make no predictions about whether US or foreign stocks will be better in the coming years, but I invest in everything.
Don't reinvent the wheel, the simple three fund portfolio with asset allocation set to taste is fine. You don't have to worry about rebalancing if you don't want to (and typically I do de facto rebalancing by by doing new investments in whatever is low % wise-- works itself out over time)
