Here's one I found at random, on what divine law requires giving to the poor out of the earth's produce.

actual quote (translated):

The Old Vulgate translates: You shall not gather the gleanings, nor gather the grapes in your vineyard, but you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God. The more recent Interpreter makes God say: Nor shall you make a gleaning of your harvest. Likewise, you shall not gather your vineyard, nor gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard, but you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger. I am the Lord your God. Luther translates for us: When you reap your land, you shall not gather all the way to the edge. Also, you shall not gather your vineyard carefully, nor gather the fallen grapes, but you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger, for I am the Lord your God. The Jews explain: You shall not read your cutting, and you shall not read your vineyard, and you shall not read the fallen of your vineyard, you shall leave them for the poor and for the stranger, I am God your God. We do not inquire here what may be lacking in each of these versions.

Therefore, the merciful God willed that the ears of grain, whether from the bundles or from the hands of those harvesting, which by chance fall during the harvest, should be given to the poor.

Oh, if only the laws recited above were still in effect among Christians, whose generosity, if anything, should be no less, if not much greater and more remarkable than that of the Jews. But it is to be lamented that, after shaking off the yoke of useless ceremonies, we have also discarded some of the most praiseworthy moral virtues, as if to be a Christian were the same as having no connection at all with the Jews, either with their Levitical worship or with their good customs and laws. Therefore, we have seen, alas, in some places in Germany, that nobles order those who neglect some of the ears of corn while harvesting, or some of the grapes while gathering the harvest, to be whipped. This clearly brings reproach on the Christian religion, scandalizes the Jews, and is an insult to Christ the Savior, whom we rightly and deservedly boast to have been the most perfect in virtue.

I'm working on it with Qwen. OCR and translation of one dissertation can take 1-2 hours though, depending on factors

Yeah but try searching for a dissertation on a specific topic. I had Qwen pull all the metadata so I can do offline searches, then pull the individual entry I'm looking for. The problem is a lot of a lot of the metadata is bad, including the author's name

If anyone got their hands on medicinal plants from Asia back then they would do tests with them that rival the clinical trials we do with modern medicines today. They would run all kinds of chemical experiments and apply it different ways to figure out which organs it affected. Some folks might drink it while others smoke it or apply it externally
