You need at least a 40-gallon long tank and a chiller you can count on. I looked into these chillers and the only ones I'd trust with an axolotl's life cost upwards of $1200. I don't even know what kind of critters I can use to clean up axolotl shit either. Seems like snails are just gonna get eaten. The people discussing this online are all first-timers and most seem dumb. Some tanks are so full of weeds you can never see the axolotl

that is 120. as you might know, i have two marine tanks, a 50 gallon and a 250 gallon. i have a bunch of corals and shit in the big one.
my kids (10 and 7) told me they wanted an axlotl. i said okay but they never really followed up and asked about it again. i assumed you could just keep them in a regular fresh water tank. fuck all this nonsense.

i haven't looked into it in detail but i know it's a bunch of shit. imo not worth the payoff to watch globs of goo float around. i've seen them at the baltimore aquarium and it's kinda cool but whatever.
