Everyone's outlook is very short sighted. The USA hasn't been a world power very long at all in the grand scheme of things, but most people act like it is inevitable that it will always be a superpower.
On an even longer timeline, western civ has not been around all that long. Industrial revolution was practically yesterday.
But things are actually changing fast now. The days of the US being a superpower are numbered. The southern hemisphere is gong to take over be it for good or ill. Computer technology grows exponentially.
We will all (presumably) be alive in 30 years and the world will likely be unrecognizable then. Thirty years is a drop int he bucket.

i doubt it. When push comes to shove no one wants to lift a finger and make huge personal risks to themselves to go after others irl. Maybe a fraction of 1% do. There may be pockets of unrest in major and medium sized cities, just like with the Floyd riots.
I don't think the largest most profitable companies in this country will allow it either. They work closely with the federal government. They wouldn't allow any sort of mass disruption to the business of America. There's too much to lose for too many people who have too much.

People acted like John Kerry vs George Bush was some sort of historic choice.
Then weirdly you can look at someone like Ross Perot who was treated like a joke, but everything he said came to fruition.
