So it turns out this Hezbollah died exactly as I imagined, before I knew he died that way. I assumed one of the 80 bunker busters the IAF dropped was on target, but it looks like they missed this dood's bunker, and instead set off fires in the vicinity of his bunker.
Also ljl@ xo engineers who thought backup ventilation would be an afterthought for these places. It's easy to do that in a mine or a military base where you don't have to hide the vents. These people have to ventilate diesel fumes while evading detection in a city. The only way I've ever seen that done is to have a ton of very tiny little vents at the surface that connect up to a big branching network of larger subsurface ventilation tubes. You have to disperse all that shit into minute undetectable volumes, and you don't want vent holes that can be traced back to a bunker. You want anyone who finds a vent hole to get lost trying to find their way through the underground tree of vent holes.
What Hezbollah needs are carbon monoxide detectors, portable oxygen tanks and masks. That saves the trouble of doing all the shit I just described above. Wonder why that never occurred to xo engineers ITT.
