I knew you were going to ask that

Unfortunately I was with my kids in the sunroom when we saw him and my phone was charging in the other room

This bro was huge, very furry.

This is the closest pic I can find that looks like him: https://www.wickedlocal.com/gcdn/authoring/2016/01/30/NWKL/ghows-WL-1ec24880-1d83-4999-a6c7-32585114200e-e024e457.jpeg?width=1200&disable=upscale&format=pjpg&auto=webp

Suburb of _____, not flame

When I was a kid I spent summers at my grandmother’s country house, she had multiple cats who spent most of the day outside. Every once in awhile one of them wouldn’t return until late, my grandmother would spend her evenings worrying about the missing cats until they returned. Sometimes one of them would come back the next day, but they always came back.

With your cat being a house cat and not having any street smarts though, hard to say, of course.

I just googled it and you can tell your wife that it looks like your cat likely should at least be safe from being eaten by a fisher cat (provided of course that your local porcupine population is ample enough to keep your neighborhood fisher cats properly satiated):

“Yes, fishers (a member of the weasel family, not cats) are capable of killing and eating domestic cats, but it is rare rather than common. While they are opportunistic predators that may attack small pets, studies show that house cats make up a very small percentage of their diet, which consists mainly of small mammals and porcupines.”
