Everyone's outlook is very short sighted. The USA hasn't been a world power very long at all in the grand scheme of things, but most people act like it is inevitable that it will always be a superpower.
On an even longer timeline, western civ has not been around all that long. Industrial revolution was practically yesterday.
But things are actually changing fast now. The days of the US being a superpower are numbered. The southern hemisphere is gong to take over be it for good or ill. Computer technology grows exponentially.
We will all (presumably) be alive in 30 years and the world will likely be unrecognizable then. Thirty years is a drop int he bucket.
