First glance, the dogs and hunters lower left are what stands out although they're also my least favorite part of the painting. But if I spend any time looking at it, the lakes are all my eyes are drawn to. At first I wonder what the fuck the people are doing in the water in that weather, but then if you look at them more closely, it becomes clear that the lakes are ice even though they don't look like it. Should have done a better job painting ice colors. There is something wrong and unsettling about the proportions and perspective of that area and the houses in the foreground nearest to it. If you draw an X across the painting from the corners, you basically have three different paintings coexisting with disjointed styles in terms of proportions, perspective, and style (left+bottom, top, and right).

On the whole, I'm not really sure what I think of it. Normally I'd have more of a broad "like" or "dislike" opinion. I think it needs to be seen full-size rather than on a phone or computer screen to really judge it.
