Poast results, this is something I have been curious about for a long time. How do you get the back of your neck lined up straight?

I go for the Hitler Youth undercut. The back and sides are easy to do with clippers, starting with a 1. If I'm feeling lazy I go for a 1 all the way up, which is what I might do today. The top has taken trial and error to cut and balance evenly as my hair parts to one side, but I've done it enough times to get it right now, although I might have to make an occasional adjustment.

For the neck hairline, I use smaller clippers to trim down the longer hairs and then finish it off with a razor. My neck hairline is naturally balanced and slightly rounded, so it's pretty simple.

Crucial for all of this is having folding mirrors in the bathroom so that I can see and work with my hair from all angles.

At this point I'm guessing I've saved around $2k+ by not going to a barber.

I bought high-end but used clippers on eBay for around $100. They were around $200 new six years ago.

Scissors for around $30 I think on Amazon.

Clipper lube for like $8.

Had to replace the top blade on the clippers once so far. Replacement blade cost like $12.

The first 2-3 times you do it, it's awkward and may not come out perfect, but after that you get the hang of it.

I bought the only clippers I could find early in COVID (midrange Phillips for Idk $50) and haven't maintained or replaced anything. Clippers have small attachment for around ears, 7 length guides, nose hair trimmer.

I'd typically have to go to barber every 2-3 weeks because the back of my neck looks like shit at that point even though overall length was ok. Even more than saving the fraud $40-50, I love the intangible not having to deal with some barberfag and being able to do it myself at 8pm on Sunday night or whatever.
