Texas is an awful match up for ND because they can force Carr to beat them. Texas has twin 6’2” 10.5 hundred WRs and a 6’4” dude with elite ball hawking skills. Texas would beat ND by at least a TD. Miami despite their week 1 win against a redshirt freshman QB starting his first game is considerably worse than ND. If they played 10 times over the next 5 weeks ND wins 7-8. Miami matches up a little better than ND but Texas would smack Beck around and have him crying and blaming his WRs and OL like they did last year in the SEC CG. The 4 team playoff began to avoid another scenario where 3 teams could plausibly say they should be in the NCG. No team on the bubble can have any claim that they deserve to be in the NCG. So the playoff has more than taken care of the problem it was fixing.
Of course that reason has been totally lost and these expansions are ridiculous. Should immediately go back to a 4 team playoff or even better return to BCS and just acknowledge there will be some tough calls some years. |
