It was good if you were a private practice owner, you could hire cheap labor.. but since the market improved I van do just as well working directly for the hospital. Problem is if AI improves efficiency by 50%, job market will crater. It's just the easiest way to gain efficiency nationwide and hence create oversupply for my specialty. Only slight efficiency gain happened in 2008 due to proliferation of electronic medical records, and at the same time boomers stopped retiring and market went from best to worst in weeks, and did not recover for 15 years.
