Pierce Brosnan- best combination of look, acting, physicality. His first two films are top tier. the last two are subpar.

Sean Connery - good look and physicality. First mover advantage

Daniel Craig - great actor, bad look. better scripts/production than pierce ever had.

Roger Moore - bad look, bad actor, bad physicality, but high on charisma. He is the first bond I knew of so his movies bring a nostalgia.

Tim Dalton - good look, zero charisma. Despite what people say he was not closer to "book bond". in the books bond is never this boring.

George Lazendby - brought looks but nothing else. had one of the best scripts to work with in OHMSS

CR point about OHMSS, it is definitely one of the most well-written Bond films and closest to elevating itself above throwaway escapism.

Brosnan was fine but he's Irish ffs, not even British.

Bond is supposed to be dark haired, tall, lean, and handsome.

Fleming himself said the look was partially inspired by Hoagy Carmichael:

https://nashvillesongwritersfoundation.com/Site/inductee?entry_id=67

craig is the inverse of this.

Bond is basically a mythic archetype, he's like Batman or something, always open to interpretation because he doesn't age or die. Fleming was a cheeky drunk and knew he was writing pulp and had no grander ambitions.

this is the type of bullshit libs use to turn classic characters black. The look is clearly described by the creator. Yes, it can be changed per your point, but Craig can never be the "best look" only a different one.

Brosnan tried to do both and it didn't come off for me.

While Dalton isn't the best, he's got a great look and The Living Daylights is a great movie. I think he was almost going to be Bond for a third movie, but it got scrapped for studio rights reasons or some BS. Too bad.

Casino Royale might be the best of the films, but I agree that Craig's look is never going to make him the top guy. Too jacked and a couple inches too short.

Cr, Daniel Craig showed up in the peak post-Bourne “shaky cam” action era, and they just rolled with the “gritty” aesthetic through the rest of his films.

Due to his short stature, Craig's strikes lack leverage and power and don't do sufficient damage to his opponents. So any time he gets in a fight it goes on for like 2 minutes and he has to rely on grit and conditioning to squeak out a win.

I thought those were early concepts for The Transporter, which came out the following year, and was also about a British guy driving a BMW and taking odd jobs

Craig - best single performance (CR), most physical formidable

Connery - most suave, best screen presence

Moore - most likable, most fun

Dalton - most like the literary Bond, most intense

Lazenby - most vulnerable (my single favorite 007 film, btw)

Brosnan - I was never a fan. He looked good in a suit; was perfectly adequate and consistently okay

#1 Connery - the original. biggest and toughest. best look. made some top tier films like Goldfinger.

#2 Brosnan - good look. well acted. Goldeneye a strong contender for best Bond film. but so many cheesy shit scripts and a ton of bad 90s action.

#3 Lazenby - good look. not a great actor. but his single film was a very well written one.

#4 Moore - bad look. slimy bisexual rapist vibe. a few good films, but several boring or just shit ones. (Octopussy?)

#5 Craig - terrible look, more cab driver than suave British spy. benefitted from some well plotted films. on the other hand half the dialog was shitty self-help drama and moaning about his love life (presumably to "modernize" it and attract fags and chicks)

#6 Dalton - just fucking dull.

Barry Niven & Barry Nelson - can't even remember what they were like, I watched them so long ago.
