what's the benefit besides newborns getting money?
guilt shaming/virtue signaling is probably the best way to institute wealth taxes on corps and the ultra wealthy. basically it's what libs did with DEI and 'sustainability' nonsense to trickle down corp money to useless minorities and libs. this seems like it's for a better cause.

what's the difference between this and a 529?
a trump seems like it cant be used for qualified edu expenses UNTIL they're 18
When can funds be used?
Funds can be accessed without penalty when the child turns 18 for qualified expenses like education, a first home purchase, or starting a business. Withdrawals may be subject to restrictions and would be taxed at ordinary income rates.

Sounds like a racket to me:
Individual Contributions: Made with after-tax dollars, meaning no federal income tax deduction.
Employer Contributions: Employers can contribute up to per year (within a total annual limit) on a tax-free basis, which is deductible for the employer.

someone on dansdeals asks a CQ:
Dan, if you need to pay taxes on all the gains when you take the money out, how is this any different than opening a mutual fund for your child now and paying taxes on the gains yearly?
In fact, with regular mutual funds, many times the child doesn’t end up paying taxes, since the yearly gains may be below the $1350 yearly exclusion, while with a trump account, you pay the taxes as a lump sum when you take it out, which can be substantial.
Please advise. Thank you
