Yesterday it didnt start for like 10 times, then HELLOSIR worked on it and it finally started and I ran it for 20 min. Then turned it off and again it wldnt start, but eventually it did again
So today I try starting it and it doesnt work for like 15 times. The HELLOSIR comes and tries then looks at engine. He then notices the furking diesel filter has a glass thing at the bottom and its completely broken off. So I guess no diesel was getting to the engine
I paid this HELLOSIR with no teeth like $80 over 4-5 visits to fix this furking engine and he didnt notice this.
So now have to find this furking god damn part which will be impossible in this shithole country. Fortunately there's an old one that the prior owner glued together, we prob cld glue this one together too
If engine dont work after fixing this I seriously may delay sailing and just try to find a new engine, maybe electric
Will poast pics

Looks like a Lucas 296 diesel water separation filter. It's available in many other brands besides Lucas, Delphi, for example. I think the bowl is a separate item, or you can buy a complete filter assembly. Strongly suggest replacing the entire filter, not just the plastic bowl and get some spares while you are at it if you can find them. One batch of watery diesel and it will clog up. The little plastic bowl on the bottom has a screw so you can drain water out periodically, which is a good idea. Here's a video on changing this kind of filter on a tractor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQnsHEM3n5A He already had the bowl, of course. Suggest trying a tractor shop and a marine shop. Some diesel cars/trucks probably use this filter also. It's a common filter. You can see that the filter just screws out of the top metal piece, and the bowl just screws onto the bottom of the filter. Absolute worst case you can get a mechanic to plumb in another type of filter, but I'm betting you can find a 296 and bowl somewhere. I don't think gluing the bowl back together is going to work.

thank you, sir. its actually glass it seems, it furking broke apart. and seems this is common as prior owner has broken one he glued back together
when i googled this particular brand it was only in new zealand (owner 20y was from there i think) .. i suspect though i can just replace it with any similar thing, the HELLOSIR today went around trying to find ones but he said they all had pumps, no idea wtf that entails, but im gay
its impossible to find shithere, im gonna go to cebu tomorrow and go around asking these morons with their brains turned off and their heads will explode, i already know, fma
i already have like 4 of the actual filters as spare so thats not the issue, just the glass thing that goes beneath it

the HELLOSIRS installed a whole new one today, itlooks 180. its steel not this glass BS
engine worked immediately now, turned it on at least 7-8 times
there's a hitler dood in a boat nearby and he stopped by today and said i shld also install a prefilter to the hose, then the filter will never need to be replaced or cause probs
will upload a pic of this as soon as HELLOSIR internet starts working again

Nah, you get enough water in the filter the engine just stops running until you drain it. I doubt Tommy could tell water from diesel through glass anyway.
Old school set ups have a water separator and a filter.
And who cares if the engine has 7k hours. If it starts up quickly and does not smoke it’s fine.
Old diesel engines are 180.

There are probably plenty of things to worry about. If you have a manual for the engine, check their recommendations about how often to change the filter. I suspect it's going to be every six months or so, but it depends on how much you run and the quality of the diesel. Since you can't see into the glass bowl anymore, I would suggest draining out the bottom once in a while. Many people suggest doing this daily. Again, it depends upon fuel quality, but a safe thing to do is drain it before every trip and check to see if it looks watery. If it does, drain more. Unless the filter has a vent valve, you will need to unscrew the filter slightly from the housing at the top to get it to drain well. If you're operating in freezing weather (seems unlikely) drain before shutting down so the water doesn't freeze. When the filter gets really overloaded with water the engine will not run well and may stop. Not a good idea to push it this far. After you've drained it, make sure the filter is screwed back in firmly at the top and the drain valve is closed. If your engine has a priming pump you may have to use it to make up for the missing fuel in the filter. Otherwise, just crank until it starts.

i bought it for 15k and ive spent about 13-14k repairing it
but now im SAVING money by living on it, i save like 34usd in hotel/airbnb every night and also saving on food cause spending like 2-3usd a day on food only
my time is worthelss but initially i spent TWO months in this worthless shithole country, yeah it sucked but whatever. i realized eventually to just pay the hELLOSIRS to do everything instead of working myself to death, so i left for a month, came back two weeks ago and boat is now ready
overall biggest mistake was jjust stayin in this shithole town for two months, shld have just checked in every two weeks

that HELLOSIR must be like 16yo, i pay him furking 400 pesos a DAY to work, thats $7.23
he doesnt speak any english, he's basically the subordinate slave to the other HELLOSIRslave
today the older HELLOSIR made this dood swim arnd at high tide retrieving ropes that had tied my boat down at the shore, dood had to swim all over into mangroves and stuff to get the ropes
then at end of day they asked for him to be paid and the older one said he's quiting cause he's tired of working in the sun and getting dark
no idea if that was sarcastic or HELLOSIRS are just lazy
