At first I was annoyed because I don't want random strangers barking at me from behind. Also felt like my swing was at an ATH after my last lesson. Instructor said there was nothing left to teach me, other than maybe adding/maintaining spine tilt on mid-iron strikes.

Also I could barely understand what this guy was saying. He showed me some weird exaggerated trail wrist move (like doing a thumbs up or pulling hammer back).

This is completely different than my wrist hinge. I showed him my bowed wrist flexion hinge at the top (holding waiter tray) that I was taught (see, Jon Rahm, DJ).

He told me I was too weak to do that style, said it completely relies on lower body to generate power and mine is weak.

I was like cool cool, and he kept standing there waiting so I tried it his way. First hit with 5H went 175 and perfect baby fade. Hit more and then tried 4W and 6i They were ALL THE FARTHEST SHOTS OF MY LIFE

Old way: right wrist flexion--logo on lead hand is pointing back and to the right at the top of swing (like holding a waiter tray with right palm almost facing the sky). Club face more closed. Hands look more bowed than flat/neutral. This can lead to hook pulls and left misses if timing is off

New way: right wrist cock (what he called it) or radial deviation, logo pointing up and towards the target at the top (pulling hammer back). Club face more open. This promotes a nice fade.

What I realized later is that you can even merge/combine them and that every pro's "hinge" at the top is slightly different, on the spectrum from full extension to full deviation

Regardless of your hinge, the goal for every single golfer is just getting to your optimal impact position (supinated lead wrist) and hitting the sweet spot with a repeatable swing

You can kind of figure out your own optimal hinge by rewinding from impact position, back to the top of swing, and figuring out how you can comfortably get the most hinge while holding it through impact

The advanced nuance is that with the cock method, you actually uncock early in downswing while maintaining the other kind of hinge.

When you do it right you feel an awesome snap on the way down that is generating more ball speed

On the rare occasions that Asians have given me unsolicited advice, they have been 100% correct.

sounds credited. i’ve heard a bunch of variations of a “thumbs up” move or drill over the years

what do you mean though your instructor said there’s nothing left to teach you. is this a legit dood with other student who can shoot good scores? is he just just sick of you or what

He just meant at the indoor sim, hitting off a level mat at a screen

[nyuug] makes his own Korea and poasts about himself with an alt, then bumps his own threads. It's performance art, admittedly a one-note variety of it. Nobody on XO actually cares about Korea unless it comes up tangentially because of Starcraft.
