people would buy concert tickets to their fav band and attend all their shows across the country while road tripping. Mostly camping, or staying in hostels or couch surfing. You only needed a few bf's, a little money for gas, and someone who could drive.

The takeover by cable meant that millions of Americans spent 40+ hours a week watching TV. There were definitely substantial chunks of time of the 90s where I spent 30+ hours a week watching TV if you count sporting events where I may have watched at a friends house or a bar or restaurant.
