It's genuinely remarkable. Few things are built by someone who understands beauty as well as whoever built this.

Never heard of this guy but I'm now a big fan.

I like the Sea Island one better. This is too dingy and burdened by tacky 70s mid century queues. Looks like you might find shag carpet or something. The ocean residence is top tier imo.

they would literally shoot homeless people on Sea Island if they could.

They hosted a G8 Summit there during the Bush years and you can go sit at the round table where they had it

Portman designed tons of hotels and office buildings in downtown atlanta and elsewhere in the 70s and 80s.

Some of it looks dated now, some of it is a marvel to behold in person - famous for insane and complex atriums with a miami vice flair

Cr his firm built shit all over the world, NY, LA, Shanghai, Beijing. Dude was absolutely balling. His wiki said that his hotels were popular in a time when streets weren't safe and people wanted to stay at a hotel that felt like a city within a city. You walk in and you're closed off from the street level. You have all this interesting shit to look at inside so you don't have to go out and explore if you don't want to. This was the 70s version of destination hotels before (((resorts))) really took off.

Skip to today and places like Times Square are a lot safer and people don't want to spend their whole trip in a hotel room. But at the time it was very popular and his designs drew in customers.

He designed the famous Bonaventure Hotel in Downtown LA, seen in many movies.

He did the Westin Peachtree Plaza, I stayed there for a long ass time. The atrium does stand out a lot.

I'm not too impressed with the pictures of the house in the OP but I suspect I might like it in person.

Ive walked by it a bunch - buddy's family has a beach house on the same side street and this monster house is right by the beach access. Its a sight to behold. Probably the most famous house on Sea Island
