There are like 3 or 4 types of Linux that either never break, or have a rollback feature that WORKS, or both. OpenSuse is the only one with both as far as I know, but you'll never use it because it's not popular, even though it's the only distro anyone should even consider running as a daily driver.

On one of the stable variants you'd never use to watch Youtube.

Also it's been nearly 15 years since people could search for old threads. Something broke and never got fixed.

I wish we had the 2004-2012 or whatever missing episodes back. There was so much 180 content. But that has nothing to do with Linux.

linux was never really meant to be a desktop operating system. at least not for people who don't know shit about computers. that was the reason Windows/Mac took off despite *NIX and BSD systems being well-established at that point

Right. Moving it to desktops caused demand for constant updates, and the updates break everything eventually. ljl@ people who still ask why no Linux distro lets you automatically install updates.

Why would some Nerd even try to run Linux on his desktop? For a server, sure. But jfc. Is it all just Fake Nerds trying to flex?

For a while it was genuinely better for just browsing the web, copypasting text and stealing content. Now Windows is at least as good for all of that. If you have an Nvidia graphics card Linux is a disaster at the moment. You have to register as a developer and wait 48 hours for approval from Nvidia before you can download proper drivers.

there are nerd evangelists like Richard Stallman but that guy is a genius and he's consistent about his convictions. Losers try to run linux as a daily driver either because they are poor or they are taking a stand against the big bad corporations or something.

They are all dual-booting into Windows when you're not looking.

even though im a bottom tier CRUD WEBSLOP dev i like running linux just because i at least have some vague idea of how it actually works, and dev tooling sucks ass for windows outside of C#. it's nice not have to battle ai-infused electron adware bullshit that constantly needs to reboot to update with great new retarded features nobody wants

Windows has an entire Linux subsystem built into it now, specifically for your use case

why would I run a layer on top of windows instead of just running the layer directly if I don't care about running windows?

the only benefit to windows for me was Games and proton these days takes care of basically every game I've ran in to other than apex

You can disable all the AI and the OneDrive shit in the task manager with 4 clicks. Every popup has a "Disable" option too. What you never have is broken display drivers you can't uninstall, or drivers that have to be blacklisted.

I never have that in linux because I can always look up how to actually fix shit myself (plus it's easier than ever before now that LLM models have gotten good enough to be very useful troubleshooting partners) and never have to trust some third party app or windows update #29439124 to patch things up and then just live with shittiness when it doesn't work perfectly.

CR, people who are doing this are just being faggy. There's legitimately annoying things about windows, but it takes about an hour to get a fresh install working the way you like without popups and shit. LJL @ doing *nix instead.
