Light roast coffee sucks; has a weird aftertaste

you're supposed to lightly roast high-quality coffee beans. roasting it dark blasts out the flavors. but i agree that for supermarket coffee dark is better. idk about "weird aftertaste" though.

The better the quality of the equipment and preparation setting, the lighter the roast you'll want. If you are in a Grand Coffee Preparation Theatre or similar mobile lab type setup, then you want a very light roast. If you are dealing with variable gas station coffee or in a trench, you want dark roast IME.
