Assume:

-two years to practice with anyone you want

-torpedo bat

-you’ll lead the MLB in plate appearances, one more than the next highest guy

-won’t get injured

-paid the same salary as your current job won’t have to work.

-you’re entire purpose is to hit home runs, you can swing for the fences each at bat.

-the pitcher *might* catch on to what you’re doing and adjust with curveballs etc but not guaranteed.

Could you hit 20?

If I have two years to practice and work out I’m sure this is feasible. I’d focus on just hitting fast balls and wait to face their closer, assuming I get up to bat in the 9th every third game that’s like 50 appearances against a guaranteed fast ball and I just need to jack 40% out of the park

No fucking way an xo poa is hitting 20.

Jimmy Rollins set record for PA with 778. Managing to hit .125 gets you 97 hits. No way 20 are going out.

Nobody would have the ability to hit balls out to the opposite field, and unlikely the power to go out to center. You'd only be able to pull the ball out, and I don't think an MLB pitcher is going to make enough mistakes middle-in that you could pounce on.

I'm capping the .1% result at 5.

yes, you can bench more than maddux so you'd hit more homeruns.

i'll assume you are kidding and move on

as an 18 year old at rookie ball, maddux goes 0 for 14 with 9 strikouts

next year at a ball, 21 ab, 5 hits, 0 hr

next year at aa and aaa, 25 ab, 5 hits, 1 hr

then majors

those ba are .000, .238, .200

he hits 5 hr in 1591 ab with a .171 ba as a major leaguer over 23 season

Maddux was a pitcher. Tell me you don’t know baseball without me telling you you don’t know baseball.

You’re basically even with maddux because he never practiced hitting. And he still got lucky here and there and hit a home run. Now imagine having two years of practicing ONLY hitting home runs, working out to hit home runs etc.

You’re proving my point.

lol not flame we played against an MLB pitcher Tommy Koehler in HS and faced him in little league all stars since age 10. Koehler was an absolute beast growing up. He pitched a few years in the MLB and was respectable. He never hit a home run in the majors and pitched in the national league. So a career of hitting as a pitcher and hit zero.

In high school one time there was a softball field beyond center field. I remember he hit one that landed between second base and the pitchers mound on the softball field. It had to be 450 and he hit it to straight center. That was during a game where he struck out 14.

XOers don’t realize these pitchers had a whole life before they were “just pitchers” where they were the best hitters on their team. Lmao at some random XOer even getting a bat off of his shoulders off of a MLB pitcher.

I mean in college even division III you’re facing 85 and guys with good off speed stuff especially in the days of instagram. If you played at a big high school you’ll see guys who throw 94 and go to division I school. It’s hard enough to hit 94. Not imagine people with movement, 6’7 pitchers, guys with nasty curveballs.

I don’t think an XOer could get the bat off their shoulder to even make contact in a full season in Rookie Level minor league baseball much and MLB is laughable.

I’ll crush the ball so hard they are gonna ask me to pitch as well

Might take a year or two but I expect to dominate that too

At that point they might ask em to be a crossover star. I’ll probably turn down nfl (concussion risk) but all for nba. Think I could put up a 20 ppg avg after some practice

I think most here could hit 30+ dingers if we devoted two years of full-time practice & dedication
