And most waves break to the left or to the right, so that one guy will have priority going left and another going right.
And when you paddle back out, you're supposed to go to the back of the line on the outside, and let the other people who are now deeper than you go.
It's not a perfect system and there's often bickering about who had priority on a given wave, but it's good enough.
And yeah, on slow days there's a lot of sitting around and (A) waiting for a set to come in, and (B) waiting for your turn in the priority. It's fun when it's warm and you can talk to people and look at girls' butts while you wait. |

i surf the cold waters of the Bay Area. it's not for the faint of heart. November saw some 180^180 swell hopefully it continues into December. but I long for the warm waters of Mexico or Hawaii

Kailua's definitely the best for wingfoiling. When the trades are strong there's a few wingfoilers out at this spot, but they mostly stay outside of the surfbreak so I've never seen any conflict about it. |
