RAM matters more probably for what you are using it for, so if you want to save money get an m3 or m4 at with more ram. Would optimize for greater RAM and SSD for what you are using it for. I don't think you need high cpu/gpu performance so I wouldn't bother with the 14 inch pro or optimizing toward cpu.
