They look upon the typical Scots-Irish fatass Trump supporter as basically a separate, grossly inferior, race of white person, of which the US has been blessed with an abundance.
At the same time, they make fun of the criminality of minorities in the US and don't really buy into the variety of liberalism in the US. The liberalism in Germany comes largely from their much more monolithic character, which is still much greater than in the US.
All in all, America is a source of endless Schadenfreude for Germans- a joke to be cherished.

Its very survival was at stake. But all you really need to sink a modified river barge is a small coastal defense vessel with heavy machine guns, which Britain had in large supply. If there's anything I'd fault Germans over it's being kind of a drab, overly serious society. You get kind of a cold feeling being over there- everyone is in their own little world. I like how Americans will strike up conversations with strangers and things like that, even if it's superficial.

My mind was on something else, better expressed as two things: a mental need to go all out and uncompromisingly to ‘the end’ when embracing a philosophical or a political idea and the contorted mental gymnastics needed to live with some artificial, yet absolute, taboos.They have abdicated their political and philosophical minds to their foreign Masters. In these spheres common sense is kept out.
Why do they mock Trump? Simply because he is not an obedient dog to their Masters, who are the Lib US establishment in NYC and DC. Their goosestepping media read the wreck that is the NYT as if it were a holy book and have understood that they are supposed to attack Trump and Republicans. Worst: Spiegel, Zeit, SüddeutscheZ, ARD, ZDF. Then there is the case of Springer, with Welt and Bild, who has long since officially pledged eternal submission to Jewry...
But most Germans are still far more interesting people than most Americans, who tend to be shallow, dishonest, greedy, and opportunistic tools in every aspect of their lives.
