It's wild how much down time is baked in. The students are in class only 15ish hours per week during those few weeks that school is in session.
The professors teach only 4 or 8ish hours per week during those few weeks that school is in session. And then they get a sabbatical every few years.
University jobs are highly, highly credited. Limited hours and low stress when school is in session. Throttle down to near zero the other 2/3 of the year.
And it's all happening on the backs of taxpayer dollars, boomer donations, and usurious loans, all of which is money that would be better spent elsewhere.
