Also, it's not getting any better because judges salaries and workloads are such SPS these days. So you're getting lower and lower tier attorneys who are interested in becoming judges. from what i can tell, they pay first years in DC and LA $190k, and for some reason $200k in NYC and SF (odd because firms usually pay the same in all "first tier" cities). that isn't THAT far below 215 or whatever biglaw starts at.

that said, it's entirely possible that pay for midlevels and above isn't all that close to biglaw scale.

i'm really not inclined to move bc i just moved last year and i'm gonna look like a job hopper if i do it again but you never know.
