CR. i remember the one guy was like: "They need to pitch to Turner. Even if he gets a homerun [and Phillies win the game], it's still better than pitching to Harper."

like, wut?

I thought it was horrible too. Had a whole "baseball for dummies" vibe. Have we not been watching this game for over a hundred years now? 100% of people tuning in grasp the fundamentals of the game. Everyone knows the rules. Talk about why a pitcher is throwing inside, outside, fastballs, or breaking balls. Talk about the batter's approach. Simple stuff to make the AB exciting.

Another horribly cringe line the other day was they were talking about how great it was that the pitcher never deviates from the catcher's signs and how this gave the catcher "confidence" to call the game and the pitcher never thought for himself lol. They went on about this for a long time.

felt like he wanted to be the tony romo of baseball announcing or something

baseball strategy is not that complicated broadly speaking. announcers should lean into the drama of the moment not explain minutiae.

just do the Vin Scully. Chill out, tell WWII stories, and talk about Torii Hunter bringing his father's crack pipe to school.

or be Jack Buck and talk about buxom broads. A real man's man. Two of the greatest of all time.
