I go out and look around and say "Who ARE any of these people?", tacitly aware that we scarcely share cultural touchstones, and my surplus of emotional investment that I could've used prior to kind of stitch together some sort of passively-generating civic or common culture out of it has been deliberately wasted or destroyed by criminals and other bad faith operator jackals that you meet in the waning hours of a "society" So not only is there not much commonality except on the most surface of levels there's now also little means of, as a cell in the social body, creating acclimatization or commonality and when that happens at a wide enough level the whole "American project" basically breaks down into Babylonian conditions |
