- Most of the senate races, even in deep red or deep blue states were not blow outs.
- Whites shifted left, minorities shifted right.
- young people shifted right, old people shifted left.
- the popular vote electoral college split is one of the smallest in memory.
maybe this is a good thing in some ways. |

Date: November 8th, 2024 10:00 PM Author: white boy winter They're elsewhere too, it's all up and down the East coast It started back in Nixon's era iirc---one of his closest personal confidants and the guy he vacationed with all the time was a Cuban expat named "Bebe" Rebozo and I guess Bebe sort of gave him the keys to the kingdom as far as understanding Cubans goes and Nixon was the kind of guy to actually be able to understand and implement it. Really interesting story there but anyway the Cubans have had a pretty close working relationship with the GOP since and as I understand it this has translated into some deep cultural knowledge on the ground about how various Hispanic communities on the ground actually think, vote, and work Ime the Latino ethnic character is also more suited temperament and value-wise to the GOP platform. There are definitely ways Dems could do better with Hispanics but on a perfectly flat playing field, no policy just values translated to politics, Rs have the advantage with them |

but it didn't actually build any sort of coalitions for the future. it was a short-term extortion with no apparent follow-up plan. |
