I'm assuming Vance scored 170+ on the LSAT. No one has a problem with Yale, with its limited spots, picks a former marine who grew up poor and scored in the 98th percentile on the LSAT over some chess club captain philosophy major who scored in the 99th percentile.
The problem is when you start letting in people of a different race who scored in the 75th percentile of an exam while rejecting people who scored in the 99th percentile - based purely on race.
