Same is probably true of all third world, but Haiti seems abundantly clear.

Its better to be in a federal immigration detention center than to be in Port au Prince. Better to be running from the Klan than to be in Port au Prince.

That plank two of Vance's program is "get them to self-deport" signals that even Trump-Vance are virtue signaling. You could completely shut out employment, enforce space age employment verification, and they would stay here unemployed forever. Better to beg at red lights in the US than to have a job in Haiti.

Every path to removing them requires cultural support for violent removal. You must rip their hands (hands of fathers, mothers, kids) off their bedframes and drag them out.

Practical thinkers should engage with what needs to be done to engender such support and how long it will take. My guess is youre talking generations of time, not presidential terms.

What if we inflicted microaggressions on them? Surely then they would return to a country where they're the majority & ruling class.

ill even try to argue the opposite. this is the best I got:

We saw in covid that the regime can, at the drop of a hat, invent a never-heard-before reason to demonize any group and deprive them of all civil liberties. And at least half the country will immediately sign off and be ready, at the local level, to seize and burn the heretics.

Tbf, they had laid a lot of groundwork for demonizing cons over the decades, but whether the con position towards covid was going to be cautious or skeptical was not even clear until late March 2020. Teams were still jostling and switching sides.

But by April 2020, the feds could have violently arrested and deported "covid skeptics" and ~50% of the country would have cheered.

So maybe you can effect a cultural wave that quickly. The right regime, with the media and institutions behind it, could get everyone rabid to deport all illegals by first quarter 2025
