It’s been coming for 6 months so it’s not a surprise, but still feels kind of weird

Applying for new jobs but not having a whole lot of luck so far. The immediate focus is on figuring out our visa situation so we don’t have to leave the country in 45 days

Good man. Just want you to know if you don't find anything don't let it mess with your self-esteem or anything like that it's just a really tough time to get a job.

Not if you have experience and don't have stupid standards. Companies still need people. Big tech just isn't hiring zoomers. Smart people with experience can easily land in medium to large companies that provide actual goods and Services.

This is true to an extent. The problem I face is that there is a shortage of advertised roles at my prior compensation ($350k base + bonus etc). I could take a role that pays a lot less, but at that point I might as well return to Australia and apply for jobs at my level

We still might. Trump is fucking insane and the economy is teetering on the edge. If we end up having to go home, it will be frustrating that it’s not entirely on our terms, but it will be nice to be closer to friends and family again

Yes E3

Wife was working as a dependent so she’s currently petitioning her employer to sponsor her. It’s looking promising so high likelihood we will stay, but it’s still annoying.

I would meet the criteria I guess, but you still need a job offer. Needing sponsorship is a huge red flag to all employers right now based on the responses I’ve gotten, so the focus is on my wife getting her E3 and I’ll just work on that so I have blanket work authorization
