Martial spirit is good and noble for young men especially to engage in and it's one of those "ounce of prevention, pound of cure" type things that makes sense for everyone in the long run. What shouldn't be "glorified" is beating on people while they're down, engaging in dishonorable combat, violence undertaken for no good reason, gang violence, etc etc, but if you don't already implicitly know this then we probably shouldn't be interacting to begin with. That said. It is 100% a calling. We did away with the draft for a good reason. |
