In the 2023-2024 matriculation cycle, 56% of US applicants to medical school were rejected despite good MCAT scores/GPA.
Instead of cultivating American talent, Texas Republicans pass a law which ensures their replacement with foreign doctors.
More than 30% of US medical residents are trained in other countries. 10,000 of the 43,000 annual medical residency slots are filled by H-1B visa holders.
Texas just passed a law to streamline the process for foreign doctors to obtain a license. |

The bottleneck is medical schools, every medical grad in the US ends up in the residency program, and there are still unfilled residency spots. I'd rather have the extra foreign trained doctors than having to wait months to see a specialist.
These same doctors will also cry when you talk about opening more med schools. They want to heavily restrict the number of people becoming doctors to keep their grift. |
