the US economy could expand and even accelerate into the 2026 year -- which might create inflationary pressures which would be bad for bonds and lead to a credit crunch

1. AI investment by mega-corps takes a dive when productivity gains prove illusory

2. Trump does something stupid that causes a bunch of countries to dump US treasuries

3. population stagnation and declines cause big drops in real estate prices

4. Budget issues at fed and state gov't levels cause political deadlock. Could occur in near future from unfunded liabilities like SS and state/local pensions

I think 2 is the least likely. Look at what happened with Greenland, where Trump was forced to back down once the EU quietly told him they were willing to sell off treasuries and end the trade deal.

All this seems cr but I think the most likely thing to happen is the slow Euro-ization of the US (wages stagnate, we basically become incapable of tying our shoes and let China monopolize manufacturing, high youth unemployment, etc.) rather than any specific crisis.

3 couldnt be the catalyst for a crash because it necessarily happens very slowly. unless a disease or war caused rapid population loss. but that change in demand would happen across the board, not just real estate.
