Kinda like Wayne Coyne but Coyne accepted this and found a way to make his show interesting. Even James Mercer who was hot for like 5 seconds before dropping off had more talent than Jeff Tweedy. I get what he was going for, he's a great singer and he was doing this mellow indie rock stuff that was kinda like Pavement if they were radio friendly. There's a whole market out there for emotional soft rock. The problem is that he had zero melodic genius. He just wasn't able to produce a single ear worm or memorable lyric. As such Wilco just comes across as incredibly boring and Low T. It's just indie background noise. It never dips into hard sonic pleasure which at the very least you can get at least once from Coyne and Mercer. SY is in another league for sure. They were doing something unique and with balls by comparison. Tweedy aimed low, and missed. And Feist no one would have ever heard of her if not for that Apple commercial and she didn't even write that song. Imagine getting mogged by Regina Spektor.
