This is a mind-blowing statistic. Go out on the street probably 10 out of 10 strangers have heard of The Beatles. I don't think I've ever met one person who knew of The Neighbourhood. How is this possible?

In other news, slop kids like have the most views on YouTube and dominate classic masterpiece films!

Zoomer shit is going to eclipse millennial shit over time, millennials just had a head start. And then, if streaming remains dominant, gen alpha music, and so on.

This is all self-evident and obvious. Why, what's your theory on why The Beatles don't have more streams?

No one ITT, including you, said anything about cultural dominance. You made a thread about The Beatles having fewer 1m streamed songs than some other band. I gave you my theory why, and asked if you had an alternative theory.

I think it's dentist offices and shopping malls. I bet any random slice of the population can hum Hey Jude and Penny Lane and 99% don't know K Pop Demon Hunters.

"random slice of the population" - yes but our point is that streaming demographics AREN'T a random slice of the population

(and yeah even just within millennials and zoomers and gen alpha, Hey Jude probably has the edge [although for gen alpha I wouldn't be surprised if e.g. Golden wins]. but most young people know Hey Jude involuntarily; they don't seek it out)

My hot take is that K Pop is on average than American pop. Better quality writing imho.

well I definitely agree based on the KPop I've heard, and to be fair that's just the sample that PENETRATED far enough to reach me in the U.S., but honestly I'm comfortable extrapolating and agreeing with your claim because American pop (if you're just talking about modern stuff) is complete slop.

but JPop and JRock are even better imo. I love how they DGAF about genre and make music that's pretty much a mix of everything, it's sooooo 180. ex.: https://youtu.be/wBGlbW16mw0 or https://youtu.be/Wmt86RKEkuY or the Tokyo Ghoul theme

btw for what it's worth GEMINI says that Golden would win in a landslide over Hey Jude for gen alpha

Probably true. But will they still care about Golden when they're 25? Like most slop it fades away. Hey Jude isn't eternal. A better question is will Golden be as big with Gen Omicron in 60 years as Hey Jude is now. BTW there's a clip on late night of BTS singing Hey Jude so it's obviously had cultural PENETRATION. Will Koreans in 60 years be singing Golden? My guess is that it's too slop coded to have lasting impact.

I'd bet classic rock like the Beatles is streamed into dentist offices and shopping malls more than K Pop Demon Hunters precisely because it has broad cultural relevance most people are familiar with. But hey maybe you just got a Root Canal to "Golden", maybe I'm the outlier and boomer dentists are streaming "Soda Pop" to their boomer patients, and that's whats driving the numbers, not the legions of zoomers who stream it on repeat 24/7.

It's neither. It's Spotifycore which is what The Neighbourhood is. It's really mellow background music your brain can't retain. It's like the stuff they used to play on the soft pop station. Beach Boys and The Girl From Ipanema. It's muzak/elevator music for the digital generation. People are calling it Spotifycore now because it gets in heavy rotation on playlists businesses put on every day.

This is retarded. My kids listen to this shit on repeat 24/7 and when I go to the store they're playing hits from the 2000s and older. Maybe you live in a bizarro world where your dentist is playing fucking K Pop Demon Hunters. I have no clue why you're resistent to the obvious conclusion that the most streamed songs are from people streaming music, not BIGDENTIST juicing the stats for some reason.

Yes. The song poasted has nearly a billion views on Youtube (not a common way businesses stream music) and 200k comments. The album went double platinum. Without a doubt the majority of streams are from people who enjoy the music, not dentists who are conspiring to play music no one likes.

I see that they're on tour and selling out arenas worldwide, and I believe people are attending them and this isn't just another aspect of a BIGDENTIST conspiracy.

Lots of cheap seats still available on resell. Bet these are hundred dollar faces max. Never underestimate the power of the general public to demand endless thingdoing. They're an institution. They're there. Nobody actually cares about this shit at all.

Are you retarded? You asked about their shows and I did a quick search and saw they're on a sold out arena tour, and now you're talking about ticket prices and people just "do things?" to downplay the metric you brought up? HFS.

I think it's all related. There's almost no concert footage on YouTube. We both know it's slop quit playing. I'm saying they don't have any real fans.

They were like 20 when most boomer were born. Way too old to be boomers. By contrast Boomers grew up listening to The Beatles and made shit like Van Halen and Meat Loaf and shit.
