been watching the 70's world at war docu, which is fantastic. it's hard to imagine how the UK managed to survive the battle of britain. how did months of air assaults not wipe out the country, or at least sufficiently devastate them into surrendering?
was bombing in 1940 just so much shittier and less effective than today that you can just blow shit up every night and not cause much damage? did the nazis not target civilians enough to terrorize the population?
it just seems amazing that the uk survived this
