To be fair,
Damn, sounds like Tesla is COOKED as a company.
When will TSLA fall to sub-$100, do you think? AFAIK it's been three years since this thread was made, and TSLA soared up to hit a new ATH a few weeks ago... but surely 2026 will be the year it all comes crashing down though, right?

To be fair,
I think "sales of new cars" figures will literally become mathematically irrelevant to Tesla's market cap and profitability within the next few years if Tesla's FSD Cybercab/Robotaxi model scales up the way it seems poised to right now.
You probably think that stuff is a total scam which will ultimately go nowhere, and at the end of the day Tesla is and will always remain just another car company trying to get people to buy new cars.
Guess we'll see who's right!

Did anyone think that the Chinese government would let Tesla take over in China?

Which was always a risk. In general, playing in Emerging Markets is a complicated game, and I say this as a former expat lawyer. Everyone knows that if you go in in China that you really should have a local partner. If you don't and you have local competitors then the government will work to suppress your company in favor of the local competitors. That's what is happening with Tesla. That said, the China Gigafactory doesn't just produce for China.

Which defeats a significant part of the draw of owning a Tesla.
