Pre-Trump, it was the best place to get complex litigation experience right out of the gate. Once you did a few years at DOJ you were very attractive to biglaw, boutiques, you name it. If they see DOJ they know you have top credentials and good experience working in high volume, high stakes litigation.
Now? Absolutely radioactive to employers. Most will file your resume in the circular filing bin unless you have a connection there that can vouch for you that you never misled the court, ignored court orders, made unsupported or unconstitutional arguments, etc.
Heartbreaking.

IIRC their hiring ads specifically say you must be on board with Trump and the MAGA agenda. And a large percentage of highly educated people in law firms and elsewhere will not want to hire someone who has that mindset.
