Date: March 20th, 2026 6:32 PM Author: Emotionally + Physically Abusive Ex-Husband (oppose bitchbois) Law360 (March 20, 2026, 6:11 PM EDT) -- A California federal jury found on Friday that Elon Musk committed securities fraud in a civil trial over claims the tech billionaire made false or misleading statements about Twitter's fake "bot" accounts problem in a bid to ditch or renegotiate his $44 billion deal to acquire the social media platform.
The jury, however, didn't find Musk liable based on the investors' claim of an overall "scheme to defraud Twitter investors."
A lawyer for the investors, Mark Molumphy of Cotchett Pitre & McCarthy LLP, estimated that the damages the jury awarded in the case would amount to about $2.6 billion.
