I'm furious. My mom's funeral was on Sunday and my tech bro brother got up and read an obviously AI generated eulogy. I wish I was joking. It was full of the most cliche AI slop. Some of the parts I can remember:

"<NAME> wasn't just a mother. She was a masterclass in showing up."

"She was the load-bearing wall of our family -- quiet but utterly indispensable"

"And here's the thing: she's not really gone. She's in the recipe you can't quite replicate. She's in the voice in your head that tells you to bring a jacket. In the whisper of the wind through the trees"

The worst part was everyone complimenting him afterwards on how impressive and well-written it was. Meanwhile I spent hours writing a actual, heartfelt eulogy as well as a poem which got zero recognition.

I confronted him about it and he admitted he used ChatGPT for "help" writing it and doesn't see what the big deal is. He doesn't see the problem with being lazy enough to delegate something as personal as your MOTHER'S EULOGY to a chatbot.

Before you recommend cutting him off: I've been no-contact with both him and his wife since Trump's first election.

had to fly back to DC at 5 am the next day because biglaw rainmaker wanted me at a pitch.

rainmaker had done work for them since 2001 (when the state collective bargaining law got passed), but over the course of 6 years, i expanded the work from college park and UMBC to basically all the unionized schools. i also had two cases before the maryland higher education labor relations board and won both. one was a stipulated record and oral argument in front of the 5 gov-appointed board members, the other was an evidentiary trial in front of the board members (they elected to hear the trial rather than send it to an ALJ).

unfortunately, the state makes agencies contract with law firms for 5 year periods, so when i left biglaw the state couldn't come with me. the RFP should be going out this year and i'm going to go for it brothers.
